Special Beginnings Inc. is an Early Intervention Network providing services to families in the Los Angeles area. We are a fully vendored program for early start at Westside Regional Center, Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center and South Central Los Angeles Regional Center. Special Beginnings Inc. provides ongoing assessment, collaboration, program development and support in the areas of cognitive development, fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and social and emotional development and
adaptation.
The program is designed for infants and toddlers diagnosed or at risk for developmental disabilities. Interventions include working through a sequence of developmental social skills including: attunement, joint attention, reciprocal interactions, topic maintenance, and topic maintenance on non-preferred topics. The ultimate goal is to transition the child into a self-sustaining environment.
Special Beginnings Inc. programs are enriching experiences that help to foster the development of problem solving techniques, expressions for feelings by the use of expanding on developmentally appropriate verbal and non-verbal language skills, and self-help skills; along with the aid
of fine and gross motor uniqueness, cognitive awareness, etc. We allow the child with special needs to use self-discovery and we will aid in the strengthening of each child’s individuality. Children are encouraged to challenge their skills at a pace that is comfortable and successful for each child’s individual sensory profile.
Our goal is to develop and nurture interactions between the special needs child and the family; to expand the repertoire of activities and interests, and to allow for independent, non-facilitated natural play to occur. This process creates successful interactions that can lead to the
development of genuine and lifelong success.
